Herb Ritts' work is undoubtedly one of the biggest influences for many an aspiring photographer. His iconic black and white shots have graced exhibition walls, coffee table tomes and the covers of Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair.
Much of his imagery is a celebration of the human form – almost odes to Greek marble statues, where the models are like replicas of gods residing at the Acropolis (minus Pope Pius IX's chopping off their cocks. NB. I never thought I'd type in "knocking off willies" into my Google search engine...)
Most of us will know his Supermodels shot but here are a few more that I thought were just yum, yum, YUM.
